About & Methodology
This site collects public records about elected officials from both parties and presents them as filed or as said, with links to the primary source. It does not judge motives, allege wrongdoing, or endorse any party or candidate.
Congress Trades Tracker
- Senate: electronic Periodic Transaction Reports (PTRs) from the Senate Electronic Financial Disclosure system (eFD, efdsearch.senate.gov).
- House: PTRs from the Clerk of the House financial disclosure index (disclosures-clerk.house.gov).
- STOCK Act 45-day rule: members must report covered transactions within 30 days of being notified and no later than 45 days after the transaction. The "Late filers" page lists dates only; a gap can have legitimate reasons (e.g. late notice of a spouse or managed-account trade).
- Amounts are the ranges exactly as filed. Paper/scanned filings can't be parsed and are skipped. The linked filing is always authoritative.
Technical details
Sources
- House: Clerk of the House financial disclosure index (disclosures-clerk.house.gov yearly FD zip/XML), Periodic Transaction Report PDFs. Status: ok: 355 PTRs since 2026-02-17, 284 parsed, 71 scanned/paper (not machine-readable, skipped)
- Senate: Senate eFD (efdsearch.senate.gov) electronic PTRs. Status: ok: 106 PTRs since 2026-02-17, 99 electronic parsed, 7 paper/scanned skipped. Senate source links open the eFD site, which may ask you to accept its terms first.
- Party/state lookup: the public congress-legislators dataset (unitedstates.github.io). Status: ok (539)
- Cross-check: Robinhood's politician-trades feed (Tip Ranks) was spot-checked for consistency. Its rows have no source-filing links, so they aren't shown.
Method
- Each row is one transaction line from a filing, parsed automatically. Ticker, asset name, type and amount range are the filer's own entries. Ranges are never converted to exact values.
- Paper/scanned filings (images) can't be parsed and are skipped. Parsing errors are possible, so the linked source filing is authoritative.
- Window: filings from the last 240 days. Rebuilt daily.
- "Late" = filing date more than 45 days after transaction date. See the caveats on that page.
This site publishes public records. It makes no claim about anyone's motives or conduct.
Receipts
- Each entry pairs two statements by the same official ("then" and "now").
- Quotes are exact, word-for-word, from primary sources: official transcripts, the Congressional Record, official websites, or original video/audio.
- Each source is checked on the date shown, and archived copies are kept so the record holds if a page changes.
- Context notes are added where the circumstances differ between the two statements.
Promises
- Promises are sourced from campaign pages, the official party platform, and speech or debate transcripts.
- "Kept" requires a concrete official action: a signed executive order, a law signed, or published agency data. Statements of intent don't count.
- "In progress" and "Not yet" are shown alongside "Kept" so the record is complete.
